Introducing the Zero-Flex B&M Idler Frame: Engineered for Precision, Built to Eliminate Flex
Traditional idler frames used in weighing applications often look robust but fall short in performance. The Zero-Flex Idler Frame stands apart with its superior strength, featuring vertical sections that are six times more resistant to deviation than conventional idler frames.
Why Does Deviation Matter?
When your weighing idlers flex, roller alignment shifts, directly impacting the accuracy of your weighing area.
What sets the Zero-Flex Idler apart is its customizable design.
It can be tailored to fit conveyor belts that don’t conform to conventional idler frame shapes. This adaptability allows us to correct significant errors caused by gaps between rollers and the conveyor, ensuring your Weightometer delivers precise results.
<The Game has changed>
When selecting a belt scale, one crucial yet often overlooked factor is the type of idler frames that comes with the system. The Quotes will frequently mention "weigh quality" idler frames, but what does that really entail?
"Weigh quality" means that the frames are engineered to withstand loads without causing deviations that would affect roller alignment, which is essential for maintaining the repeatability and accuracy of your weighing system.
As you can see from 4 different frames in our FEA report the amount of Flex seen in each system is very alarming (for the first 3)
1. Basic Idler Frame
- Features wing bracing with an angle iron cross member. This basic level frame is suitable for minimal load conditions as they bend easier than Jonh Snow and should be avoided in any weighing application if financially viable.
2. Heavy Duty Frame*
- Utilizes a tube section as the cross member with reinforced wings, offering significant improvements in stability and durability over the basic frame, as the FEA report shows they are still affected by significant flex under load.
These are great for general conveyor idlers but not for weighing applications
3. Fabricated Tubular Idler Frame
- Similar to the heavier duty frame but utilizing square tubular sections for both the cross member and the wings. Despite an advanced design, these frames often encounter manufacturing challenges due to the complexity of components and additional welding required, we usually find the wing and center roller slots are never aligned which often leads to the technician measuring the wrong dimensions for the weigh length which effects the kg/m calculations.
4. Zero Flex Weighing Idlers
- Engineered for maximum rigidity and perfect alignment, regardless of the load. These idlers are essential for accurate belt weighing practices, maintaining alignment even under "we need tons tons tons" loads.
While these frames eliminate flex in the weighing system, they can also provide flexibility in design.
If your belt has issues with roller contact, we can specially design the frames to ensure that the middle rollers always make good contact with the belt, further improving repeatability.
Selecting the right idler frames is crucial for both performance and cost efficiency.
Our Zero Flex Weighing Idlers ensure optimal alignment and accuracy, contributing to significant cost savings.
The Zero Flex Idler Frames can replace any existing frame and be fitted to any Belt Weigher on the market
